Left a legacy of 20 shillings a year for five years under the Will of his uncle, John Pearless (1765). In 1783 he was working at Willett's Farm, Cowden, owned by his cousin William, son and heir of John Pearless; in 1779 he had "hired" his own son William to his cousin for two years, against a payment of of ยน2 for which he was "to find him in meat, drink, cloaths, washing and lodging".

Married by banns to William Cronk, Cowden 14.10.1788, wit. Richard Peerless; had issue (see Cronk/Simmons tree). He died at Cowden in 1827 aged 65. Their son John, born in 1799 at Cowden, married Sarah Bridger of Penshurst.

"The first contemporary spelling of Peerless". Living (and working?) at Willett's Farm, Cowden between 1779 and 1781. When he married in 1790 he was of Withyham. In 1841 he was a labourer, living at Swaylands, Penshurst; in 1851 also a labourer but living with his son John at St.Leonard's on Sea. At other times he was described as a tollgate keeper (Penshurst?) and, at his death, a yeoman.

When married by Banns at Withyham in 1801, both were of that parish. In 1851 Census he was living with his wife at Wilkins, Chiddingstone.
