His marriage in 1807 was by licence, he of Cowden and Mary of East Grinstead; witnesses were Robt.Args.Durrant and Martha Durrant. Will dated 25.3.1825 with Codicil dated 26.5.1825, proved at London 7.4.1827 with probate to his widow Mary and James Stanford of Haxted, Lingfield, Surrey, with power reserved for Rev.George Mottram of East Grinstead the third Executor; beneficiaries were his widow and, after her death, all his children equally.

In his Will of 2.1.93, proved 30.1.94, he left legacies to his & Anne's nephews & nieces; his brother-in-law, Rev.James Cattell, sole Executor.

In 1861 Census she, her sisters Mary & Jane and her brothers John & Henry were boarding with Phoebe Dawes at 10 Nelson Square, Southwark; all five were described as living on income from funds. In 1867 she witnessed the marriage of her sister Jane at Ramsey, when her husband officiated.

They were married in "the Salem Chapel according to the Rites . . . of the Particular Baptists by Licence" by James Cattell, her brother-in-law; witnesses were Ann Cattell, Martha Shepperson and Isaac & Eliza Saunders. In 1896 Jane's brother Henry left legacies to the children of Joseph William & Harriet Shepperson.

His siblings' Wills seem to exclude him in favour of his wife and son.
