In 1881 Census, a Butcher Journeyman, he lived at Chapel Green, Rotherfield, alone with his wife; in 1891 he lived at South View, Crowborough with his wife and children Rupert, Lilian, Frederick, Ralph, Gilbert & Sidney. By 1901 he was widowed, a navvy living with his children Gilbert & Elsie at Hove; his sons Frederick & Ralph were hotel pages in Brighton and Sidney was at a Brighton orphanage. Other children may have been Georgina (b.2Q1882, Uckfield) and Laura (b.1Q1890, Uckfield). ?Died 4Q 1927, Reigate, aged 71.

On 26.12.1913 he arrived at Ellis Island, NY on the "Cedric" from Liverpool; he was described as single, residence Brighton and had previously stayed for 8 months at Albany, NY in 1912; he was visiting W Peerless at 11 Golf Avenue, Schenectady, NY; his brother Sidney was also on the "Cedric". On 3.1.1921 he arrived at Ellis Island on the "Lapland" from Southampton; he was described as married, residence Crowborough; no other Peerless on board.

In 1901 Census he was a hotel page boy at 12/13 Grand Junction Rd, Brighton. On 3.4.1911 he arrived at Ellis Island, New York, from Liverpool on the "Baltic", described as single, residence London. In 1913/14 he lived at 11 Golf Avenue, Schenectady, NY where he was visited by his brothers Charles & Sidney. On 9.4.1920 he arrived at Ellis Island from Cherbourg & Southampton, described as "a US citizen and a member of the ship's crew". Later in 1920 he again arrived, a crewmember of the "Philadelphia" from Southampton.

He appears in 1920 US Federal Census, living in Manhattan, NYC.

Australian WW1 records show that he enlisted 13.5.1916 at Perth WA, having previously served in 1st Vol.Batt. Royal Sussex Regt.; he was described as a Civil Servant, married to Alice, living at Dalhousie, Chamberlain Street, Cottesloe WA. On 13.6.1916 he was appointed to 4th Div.Signals Coy. as a Sapper; after the War he returned to Australia, disembarking 15.1.1919.

On 26.12.1913 he again arrived at Ellis Island on the "Cedric" from Liverpool; he was visiting his brother Fred Peerless at Schenectady; his brother Charles Rupert was also on board. Served WWI with East Kent Regt.[NA]
