Will proved 1.11.1887 at Lewes; Thomas Peerless, Pork Butcher, the son, & George Henry Lulham, Farmer, both of Crowborough, Executors.

In 1851 he was unmarried and lodging with the Divall family at Wellington Row, Buxted. In 1861 Census, still unmarried, a builder's labourer, he was lodging at Buxted Bridge. The register recorded that he had died "During the night of 19th October 1879 on a footpath near Hendall, Buxted", the cause being "Accidental death from falling down and becoming suffocated in the mud"; an inquest was held 22.10.1879.
