When married by Banns in 1841 James was a labourer and he and Fanny were both living at "Tunbridge"; their fathers' names were not given in the marriage register, witnesses William Summers, Mary Ann Robinson and E Strodolph[?]. In 1851 Census he was a railway labourer, living at 4 Belgrave Terrace, Tunbridge Wells with his wife and children William, John, Sophia & Henry. In 1881 Census he, a porter, his wife and daughter Alice were at Tunbridge Wells; also in 1891 when they had their son George's daughter Olive with them.
