In 1881 Census farming 84 acres at Smythers Farm, Lingfield, Surrey with his wife and children Henry & Alice. Later head gardener at the Donner Estate, Priest Hill, Englefield Green, Surrey[WFT]. Will dated 12.9.1916 proved London 12.4.1918, probate to his son-in-law John Robert Jays & Alfred Elisha, gardener of Old Windsor; beneficiaries were his daughter Alice and his four grandchildren.
